The AREU got a start in 2013 and the union embarked with a new mission of renewable energy capability and capacity growth in Afghanistan. Afghanistan is in desperate need of energy and as we all know, it has huge potential for renewable energy through the natural resources that it has. With an increased focus on alternative and renewable energy, there are many attractive investment opportunities for the national and international companies working in this field in Afghanistan. AREU not only actively invests our own companies’ funds, but also rises outside capital for renewable energy projects in the country. Compared with other technologies and sources of power, which are typically mechanized and capital intensive, the renewable energy industry is more labor-intensive. This means that, on average, more jobs are created for technical personnel and as we all know, AREU already supports lots of jobs in Afghanistan. Throughout the country, strong winds, sunny skies, plant residues, heat from the earth and fast-moving water can each provide a vast and constantly replenished energy resource supply. These diverse sources of renewable energy have the technical potential to provide at least a part of the electricity the nation needs. By knowing this AREU is doing its best to create more opportunities for both national and international investors to invest in this field in Afghanistan.
