Do you know what the exit numbers on Dubai roads mean?

On highways that run North - South, the exit number indicates the distance to the Abu Dhabi border!

On highways that run East - West, the exit number indicates the distance to the coast!

Keep an eye out on Dubai roads starting January 2017. There's a new dedicated RTA lane with the hopes of easing congestion on busy roads. Violators could receive fines up to AED 600 - so stay clear!

But don't worry if you get stuck. The RTA had allocated a 20-metre grace distance near exits, turns, and loading/drop off areas in order to enable those motorists to turn to exit the dedicated lane.

Roads and Transport Authority's automated offence reporting system to start from January 1.
