Leadership teams have the opportunity to unite or divide. Challenging times don’t reveal the cracks in the team, they only reveal them, and it is precisely at the moment when it’s hardest, that the character of the leadership team shows itself.

The best moment for a leadership team to invest in itself and work on the dynamics between team members is not when there is a crisis, but before. The best teams prepare well for challenging moments and focus on ex*****on when the challenge arises.

High performing teams are not born. They are carefully created. By defining what great looks like, clarifying roles and deliberately co-creating charters that support high performance sets the course for success, and by being committed and consistent in executing the desired behaviors, high performance will be achieved. More importantly though, by being well prepared for the unexpected, it will be easier for team members to unite and stay true to who they are when times are tough!

My work helps leadership teams better understand the behavioral and emotional dynamics, shaping trust, team culture, and collaboration within organisations.

When the leadership team is not united, when members are not operating as one, this will fragment the organisation and decrease productivity.

Teams that face unresolved issues such as communication challenges, tension or disconnection cannot be high performing.

Healthy teams are not built through strategy alone. They are built by focusing on the team's dynamics as well as on their tasks. Where there is trust, psychological safety, healthy communication and collaboration performance will excel.

My work supports leadership teams to better understand the behavioral patterns shaping trust, collaboration and team culture within organisations, and how those dynamics impact performance and cohesion across the wider system.

DM me to explore how this work can help strengthen leadership culture and team connection.

The leadership team has the power to either divide or unite the organisation and create a shared sense of belonging. Language, presence, and symbolism all matter.

When your team feels united around a common purpose, faces challenges and adversity together, connection will grow. When they follow a clearly laid out path and vision that is both seen and felt, trust and unity will grow very quickly.

How the leadership team role models the way, particularly during challenging times, will create a strong sense of loyalty and belonging within the team.

If you would like to create a sense of belonging within your team, it’s time to talk.

Instability has a way of revealing what lies beneath the surface.

Does the leadership team manage tension openly or simply avoid it?
Is silence and politeness mistaken for trust?
Are difficult conversations being delayed to keep the peace?
And when pressure enters the system, does the leadership team become more connected or more divided?

If hidden tension, emotional reactivity or communication breakdowns are impacting the leadership dynamics within your team, this work can help uncover what is happening beneath the surface and create healthier ways of leading through challenge and change.

Because our team members are human, and emotions form part of our human experience, these are not separate from work. How we feel influences how we behave at work.

As a leader, you play an important role in how your team manages and processes their emotions. Here are some steps on how to support your team during times of uncertainty:

- Create space for people to express themselves. Encourage team members to listen to each other.
- Schedule regular team check-ins to help your team feel supported and connected.
- Flexibility also becomes important. Understanding what people need in the moment allows them to continue showing up in a way that works for them.
- Clear, consistent communication matters. When there is a lack of information, people will fill the gaps themselves with negative information, and this will spread around the team quickly increasing uncertainty.

What is one small way you can support your team today?

Eid Al Adha reminds us of the values of faith, compassion, sacrifice, and unity.

It is a time to reflect on what truly matters, to gather with those we love, and to extend generosity, care, and support to those around us and within our communities.

Wishing all those celebrating a peaceful and meaningful Eid, filled with connection, gratitude, and blessings.
Eid Mubarak from all of us at Linda Berlot Group.

Most people are taught how to give feedback, very few are taught how to receive it.

When team members feel safe enough to speak their truth, and they feel heard and understood, honest conversations can begin to take place.

What is often missing, is the skill to hear each other in a way that calms conflict down.

In many organisations, we have spent time learning how to give feedback in a way that is respectful, however we have not often learned how to receive this feedback without becoming defensive.

There are three simple practices that can support this.

The first is to repeat back what you have heard, in an open and genuine way. This allows the other person to know they have been heard.

The second is to connect to the emotion that is being expressed. Responding with empathy helps the person feel understood.

The third is to reflect back to your colleague, what you are learning from the interaction, and what you understand is important to them.

When these steps occur, the conversation becomes calmer, and there is more space to share your own perspective in a way that can be received.

Are you empowering your team to hear each other?

Organisations that will emerge stronger from uncertainty will be the ones where their Leadership teams are aligned.

To create alignment, leaders must create a space of safety, one where different voices feel heard and understood, even when disagreed with, so that the team, as a whole, may move away from “my way or your way”, towards a path that is united by common interests. When teams achieve that, they create a culture where all will align to a culture that is inclusive and supported by clear behavioural agreements, that the team creates together.

Alignment in the leadership team supports healthier team dynamics, and more effective organisational performance.

We all experience uncertainty in different ways.

Even more so in multicultural teams. Each person brings their own background, beliefs, and lived experiences into how they respond to what is happening around them.

These differences can influence how people show up, how they communicate, and how they engage with the team.

Taking the time to understand these responses allows leaders to support their teams with greater awareness and care.

What are you noticing in how your team is responding right now?
