At our recent PropTech Masterclass, we examined why smart building initiatives break down in practice, from fragmented and untrusted data, to misaligned incentives, vendor lock‑in, privacy blind spots and the push toward the “bleeding edge” rather than what actually works.
Through real scenarios, including trust erosion from poorly deployed sensors, outages caused by untested systems, and platforms that promised everything but delivered little, Dr Matthew Marson and Adam Muggleton, Chief Technical Officer at AESG, explored what effective smart building delivery really requires.
The discussion reinforced a clear message: performance, accountability and trust matter more than novelty, and smart buildings only succeed when measurement, transparency and human impact are designed in from the start.
