In the United Arab Emirates, there are many strict rules and prohibitions. To avoid getting into trouble, it is important to be familiar with the rules of this country. In this post, we’ll highlight the 5 main areas of the Emirates where strict prohibitions apply:
🚆Public transport:
Public transport includes separate zones for women and men, and the metro has separate carriages for women. Men are prohibited from riding in women's carriages. Eating, drinking, littering, and provocative and conflicting behavior are prohibited on public transport. Violation of the rules of conduct is subject to high fines.
🌐Criticism on social media:
Any criticism of Islam on social media is punishable by imprisonment. It is also prohibited to criticize the ruling elite, sheikhs, etc. In the UAE, there is an internet police force that issues fines for violations of the law or can escalate the situation to imprisonment or deportation.
🍸Alcohol:
If you are caught in a state of alcohol intoxication on the street, rather than in strictly designated places, you will be fined.
📸Photo and video shooting:
Taking pictures of people without their consent, as well as distribution (transmission) and storage of photographs, is a criminal offense in the UAE.
It is prohibited to photograph government buildings and sheiks' palaces. Near the palaces, security will politely ask you to put away your phone. It is also forbidden to shoot strategic objects. Recording accidents and other incidents on the roads are especially strictly punished: the fine ranges from 50,000 to 3 million AED.
🚘Road traffic:
Talking on the phone while driving, speeding, racing, and sudden lane changes are also considered violations of the law. Surveillance cameras are installed throughout the Emirates, which record you from the front and back, and they cover a huge distance, allowing any violation to be tracked and necessary measures to be taken.
Be careful and follow the rules!
