Support for Paying for Gas in USDT is Coming to Several L2s
Tether CEO Paolo Ardoino said that various independent Layer 2 (L2) solutions are working on integrating USDT as a means of paying for gas commissions. However, he denied rumors of Tether creating its own blockchain, noting that the company has a policy of neutrality and aims to collaborate with different networks.
Ardoino also hinted at an update to Tether's product line, which has been delayed by a week due to the current political tumult. In June, the company announced plans to invest more than $1 billion in promising startups and released the first gold-backed stablecoin.
Recall that in July, Tether considered launching its own network, but abandoned the idea due to high competition in the blockchain market.
