The value chain is moving onshore, with policy behind it.

The AfDB convened a Ministerial Forum on Critical Minerals Value Chains and Beneficiation this month, charting how more of Africa's copper, cobalt and lithium gets processed on African soil.

Processing capacity is the scarce asset of the energy transition, and the space is still early.

First movers set the terms.

Infrastructure opportunities rarely announce themselves loudly.

Flutterwave has secured strategic investment from Circle Ventures to embed USDC settlement across its 34 African markets, a rebuild of how money moves across African borders.

Whoever owns settlement owns the toll booth on the digital layer of African trade.

The quiet infrastructure plays are usually the durable ones.

A first, and a signal.

d.light's pay-as-you-go platform reached $1 billion in cumulative purchasing capacity, anchored by the first public bond for Africa's off-grid solar sector, listed in London and set to reach 4.3 million people.

Receivables-backed clean energy paper means institutional capital finally has a regulated route into African energy access.

The structures exist; scale comes next.

Local demand is outrunning supply.

Ghana: ZEN Petroleum oversubscribed 94%, Kasapreko 146%.
Kenya: Family Bank up 44% on debut day, the largest private listing in 17 years.
Ethiopia: a fifth listing on Africa's youngest exchange.

When issues clear at these premiums, the message is simple: appetite for African equity exceeds the paper available.

New listings are the entry point for those watching.

Bankability is the story here.

The AfDB approved up to $66 million for Egypt's 500MW Dandara solar-plus-storage project, the region's largest private corporate PPA, powering a major aluminium exporter under a 25-year offtake.

When corporate deals of this scale close, industrial decarbonisation becomes a replicable asset class across the continent.

The template is live; the pipeline is forming.

Trade friction is a cost line, and it's falling.

The AfCFTA Secretariat and Gabon sealed an implementation partnership, including a one-stop border post at Kye-Ossi, where Gabon, Cameroon and Equatorial Guinea meet.

Every border simplified widens margins for cross-border operators and re-rates regional value chains.

Central Africa's integration story has barely begun to price in.

The single market is no longer theoretical.

Afreximbank projects intra-African trade rising about 10% this year to roughly $230 billion, still only 16% of the continent's commerce, versus 60%+ within Europe.

That gap is the growth runway: every point of convergence is new demand for logistics, manufacturing and trade finance.

Positioning along AfCFTA value chains is positioning ahead of the convergence.

Electricity is the leading indicator.

Africa Finance Corporation has reached financial close on what will become Burkina Faso's biggest power plant, in one of the world's largest energy access gaps.

Where reliable power lands, industry, agribusiness and services follow within a cycle.
Frontier energy is how patient capital positions before the crowd arrives.

Follow the capital, not the headlines.

UNCTAD's World Investment Report 2026 puts Africa's FDI at roughly $70 billion in 2025, concentrated in energy infrastructure, critical minerals and logistics.

As global supply chains reconfigure, allocators positioned early in Africa's transition minerals sit where demand is heading.

The question isn't whether capital flows to Africa. It's whether yours is among it.
