Yesterday, we had the privilege of bringing together farmersโ€”including couples, women, and youthโ€”for an engaging training on the importance of inclusion in the soybean value chain under the ICA-4 Project.โฃ

The training, facilitated by Restless Development Zambia with support from FAO, emphasized that empowering women is essential for building resilient and productive agricultural value chains. When women have equal access to training, resources, markets, and decision-making, farm productivity increases, household incomes improve, and communities become more food secure.โฃ

Gaphen is proud to announce the successful mobilisation of 3,000 smallholder farmers across Mkushi and Serenje districts, with 90% of participants being young women aged 18โ€“35 years.

Through the Youth For Work Project, we are empowering smallholder farmers by providing:

Reliable market access through soybean purchasing

Capacity building in post-harvest management

Mechanization as a service to improve productivity and reduce post-harvest losses

To date, we have purchased 85 tonnes of soybeans from farmers through our collection depot in Mkushi, creating sustainable market opportunities and improving incomes for rural households.

By connecting farmers to markets, knowledge, and modern agricultural services, we are helping build more resilient and profitable farming enterprises for young people and women in our communities.
