Job Title: Chef
Location: Chirundu Snack Centre, Chirundu
Job Type: Full-Time
Job Summary: The chef is responsible for overseeing the kitchen’s operations, creating and preparing high-quality dishes, ensuring food safety standards, and managing kitchen staff. This role requires creativity, culinary expertise, and strong leadership skills.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Menu Planning & Preparation: Design, prepare, and present dishes with attention to detail, ensuring they meet the restaurant’s standards for quality and presentation.
2. Food Safety & Hygiene: Ensure compliance with food safety and sanitation regulations. Maintain a clean and organized kitchen.
3. Inventory Management: Oversee inventory control and ordering of ingredients. Ensure proper storage of food and ingredients to minimize waste.
4. Staff Supervision: Supervise kitchen staff, including line cooks, sous chefs, and dishwashers. Train and mentor staff to ensure optimal performance.
5. Quality Control: Monitor food preparation and cooking processes to ensure consistency and quality in every dish served.
6. Customer Service: Address special dietary needs or requests from customers. Maintain a professional and positive relationship with customers.
7. Collaboration: Work closely with front-of-house staff to ensure smooth service and timely delivery of orders.
8. Budgeting: Assist in managing kitchen costs, including labor, food, and other supplies, to maximize profitability.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
1. Proven experience as a chef or in a similar kitchen role._he/she should be able to make sharwama, chicken wrap, pastry and confectioneries, good_ at grillings and roasting, etc
2. Strong culinary skills with a deep understanding of cooking techniques, ingredients, and presentation.
3. Ability to lead and manage a team in a high-pressure environment.
4. Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
5. Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards.
6. Ability to innovate and create new recipes.
7. Good communication and interpersonal skills.

Requirements:
Proven experience as a chef, with experience of 3 to 5 years.
*Grade 12 certificate, -Culinary/catering certificate or any relevant qualifications; a diploma or degree will be added advantage.*
