It is going to be the duty of every Zanbian to ensure we have a peaceful elections. Peace cannot be bought. If we borrow credence from Burundi, since July 21, 2015 when President Pierre Nkurunziza was announced the winner of the election, Burundi has been plunged into unrest. Dozens of people were killed before the election and several others have continued to be killed to date.
We all like peace and that is why the religious leaders having been calling on all political actors to ensure they promote peace in their constituences
It is important that we all take the message of peace seriously during the electoral period. If you sense violence in your locality, like people being disgruntled because their candidate lost; instead of sitting back to watch the fistfight, let us all take a proactive role and alert security forces.
We all have opinions and we all have a right to vote and make a choice. We all have candidates we will support in the electoral process, but because we do not support the same candidate does not make me more Zambian than you are. We should tolerate one another’s views. The onus is on each and everyone of us to look out for each other.
