CALL-A-THEFT Vehicle Management Service
(VMS)
Basic information
The system was created to combat crime and to prevent your vehicle from being stolen.
Every day our technical team is working hard to make the Call a Theft system more advanced against vehicle theft.
Basic (vms) information
The VMS (VEHICLE MANAGEMENT SERVICE) is a dedicated team that will monitor your vehicle 24 hours a day 7 days a
week from the control room.our staff is always friendly and ready to serve your needs.
Basic system information
1) Brake in and entering report
2) Hotwire report
3) Shutdown report
4) Test report
5) ‘Lifting’ report
6) ‘Managing’ the vehicle
Basic (system in action) and (vms team) information
ï‚· If someone enters your vehicle without your permission, the VMS team will get a report stating that someone
entered your vehicle. The VMS team will respond immediately with a phone call to you as owner. If it is
confirmed that the owner is not near the vehicle, further steps will be taken and the SAPS will be on their way.
 With the information provided by the owner, the VMS team are alerted that it Is a confirmed ‘theft in progress’.
When the vehicle is hotwired, the system will send a hotwire report to the VMS team. (Please note that if the
system is activated the vehicle will respond with a Hotwire report even if the key was used) so if the key was
forced or stolen from you the VMS team will still respond.
ï‚· After the hotwire report is received the VMS team will shut down your vehicle completely, and an alarm will
sound to alert people of the situation. When the shutdown of the vehicle is confirmed, the VMS team will get a
report from the vehicle’s system, stating that the vehicle is in shutdown mode. (Please note that only the VMS
team is in control of the vehicle modes, and the vehicle will only communicate with the VMS team in critical
conditions for the safety of the owner).
ï‚· On a monthly basis the VMS team will test the system from the control room to ensure that the system is fully
functional and operational, without sending the vehicle to a testing station. The owner can also request a test of
the system at any time.
ï‚· The vehicle will send a lift-report to the VMS team when the vehicle is lifted, and our friendly and dedicated
team will contact you immediately.
 The owner ‘communicates’ with the vehicle via sms to activate and deactivate the system.
Why do we choose that the owner communicate via cell phone and not remote?
Thieves drive around with laptops and receivers to ‘high-jack’ the incoming transmission from your coded remote,
decode it, and write it back to a universal remote. After that, they get access to your vehicle, do what they want
(silently) and a few minutes later the vehicle is gone without you knowing about it.
Note
Your vehicle can be anywhere in South Africa, the vehicle will communicate with the VMS team, and the VMS team will
still handle the situation.
IMPORTANT FACTS
ï‚· Always attempt to know the physical address of where you go when temporarily relocating.
(Vacation/Holiday/Business trips etc…). It can be of extreme importance when informing emergency services
where to go to assist.
ï‚· Make sure you give the correct information to the VMS team when requested by them. This information being
correct can save lives and increase the reaction times of emergency services rushing to your location.
