With the excitement of buying a new home, it is important to be aware of the costs you will have to pay as part of the process. This includes Stamp Duty - and its one of the questions I get asked a lot.
Depending on your circumstances and purchase price you may have to pay taxes, known as Stamp Duty in England, or In Scotland, there’s a slightly different policy, but the concept is the same – it’s known as Land and Buildings Transaction Tax, or Land Transaction Tax in Wales.
There’s a way to find out how much tax you might have to pay on your property purchase, by looking at Government calculators. If you would like these links, please message me. Ultimately it will be your solicitor who confirms the amount you will pay, but this will give you an indication. I can also advise you on other costs, like surveys, but I will talk about that in another post.
