Lekwa showed up! 🔥

Here's a look at the highlights from last week's Youth Business Breakfast Engagements in Standerton.

Thank you to the youth of Lekwa Local Municipality who showed up and engaged at the MEGA Youth Business Breakfast. Along with MEGA Board we were joined by support institutions such as Mpumalanga Department of Economic Development and Tourism, National Home Builders Registration Council, LED, Mpumalanga Green Cluster Agency, South African Revenue Service (SARS), Absa South Africa, Small Enterprise Development & Finance Agency - Sedfa, National Youth Development Agency, and Capitec, each bringing expertise, resources, and real commitment.

From powerful addresses including an inspiring story from a young creative entrepreneur right here in Mpumalanga to robust panel discussions on MEGA's products and services, non-financial support, and alternative funding pathways, the day was about access, networking and dialogue that moves the needle.

The day culminated in a pitch competition where young entrepreneurs from the Lekwa Local Municipality showcased their businesses to the room filled with potential funders and collaborators.

Young people participated, challenged, and held their own in rooms that were built for them.

MEGA formed part of the Mpumalanga Department of Economic Development and Tourism Policy & Budget Vote, represented by our MEC for Economic Development and Tourism, MEC Jesta Sidell and attended by MEGA Board Chairperson Mr Jabulani Mahlangu.

MEGA also held an exhibition on site at the occasion.

As an entity mandated to drive economic growth and enterprise development in the province, MEGA recognises the importance of engaging with the processes that shape Mpumalanga's fiscal direction and development priorities.

Our presence reflected our commitment to remaining actively connected to the broader governance and economic landscape within which we operate. What happens in the legislature matters to the entrepreneurs we serve, the sectors we support, and the communities we are building.

Not every financing solution starts with a grant, and today's panel on alternatives to funding made that point loud and clear.

Absa South Africa, Small Enterprise Development & Finance Agency - Sedfa, National Youth Development Agency, and Capitec came to the table ready to engage, and Mpumalanga's young entrepreneurs met them with equal energy. From youth-focused financial products and blended finance solutions to revolving credit facilities and development programmes, the conversation opened up a wider view of what funding pathways actually look like in practice.

The young entrepreneurs in the room challenged assumptions, asked for clarity, and pushed for real answers. In turn, the panellists delivered real and informative responses. That honest exchange is what separates a panel discussion from a genuine knowledge-transfer session.

Young entrepreneurs have arrived at the Gert Sibande Youth Business Breakfast, ready for a morning of networking, learning and opportunity.

We are joined by, Absa South Africa, Capitec, National Youth Development Agency, Small Enterprise Development & Finance Agency - Sedfa, Mpumalanga Department of Economic Development and Tourism, National Home Builders Registration Council, LED and Dardlea7 on hand, for the attendees to have engaging conversations, learn and and ask questions directly about access to business support opportunities.
