What does it take to inspire the next generation of female professionals and leaders? Sometimes, it starts with opening a door to a world of possibilities.

As part of the CFA Society South Africa initiative, EPPF welcomed five Grade 11 learners from Mosupatsela Secondary School in Kagiso for a job-shadowing experience on 13 October 2026.

The learners gained first-hand exposure to careers across investment management, finance and pension administration, connecting classroom learning with the realities of the professional world.

Through initiatives like these, we hope to encourage more young women to explore their ambitions with confidence and recognise the opportunities available to them.

Because Caring Beyond Tomorrow also means inspiring those who will shape it.

From leading Eskom’s bold expansion into Soweto and beyond, to integrating former homelands post-democracy, Mr Joe Matsau rose through senior executive roles with purpose and vision. Alongside his corporate journey, he became a proud member and later Board representative of EPPF.

Reflecting on his pension journey, Joe describes the Fund as “a well-oiled machine… one organisation that allows a member, a pensioner, to sleep at night and not wake up hearing that their assets are gone.”

His story is a reminder of what stewardship, integrity and foresight can achieve.

In our latest reflection, Bertus van Jaarsveld, former Eskom Employee Benefits and Remuneration Manager and now an EPPF pensioner, shares how one phone call changed everything for a member who had lost his home and documents in a fire.
