⛵📢 15th Entry Announcement
Knysna Yacht Club has officially entered the 2026 Lipton Challenge, with a formidable team led by co-skippers Greg Davis and helm Georgeou "Yogi" Divaris.

A true Lipton Challenge veteran, Davis brings an extraordinary sailing résumé that includes 14 Lipton Challenge victories, two of them representing Knysna Yacht Club, more than 180,000 offshore miles, and a campaign in the Whitbread Round the World Race. He is joined by Divaris, one of South Africa's most accomplished young sailors, whose career includes multiple national titles, representing South Africa internationally from Optimist through to ILCA competition, and back-to-back Finn National Championships in 2025 and 2026.

The team is further strengthened by Paul Allardice, whose sailing career spans decades, and a Lipton Challenge victory in 2019.

With a crew boasting results like this, Knysna Yacht Club will once again be among the teams to watch when racing gets underway on Table Bay.

A strong fleet is already taking shape, with up to 17 teams expected on the start line, including the current Lipton Defenders - Hermanus Yacht Club, former winning clubs, experienced campaigners, exciting newcomers, and some of South Africa's brightest young sailing talent.

We've already welcomed several new faces to this year's challenge, but there's still time for one more surprise...

If your club has been thinking about challenging for one of South African sailing's most prestigious trophies, this is your moment.

Entries close in just seven days, and the Lipton Challenge does not accept late entries. Once the deadline has passed, the fleet is final.

The Lipton Challenge Cup returns.

25–29 August 2026 | Cape Town

South Africa’s most prestigious inter-club regatta is back, bringing together the country’s top sailors for five days of tight, one-design racing on J22s in Table Bay.

Jointly hosted by the Defending Club, Hermanus Yacht Club, and Royal Cape Yacht Club, the 2026 Challenge promises high-level competition, proud club representation and the continuation of a legacy that defines South African sailing.
