If you shop at Shoprite or any major retailer, bank with Capitec or another bank, hold an insurance policy with Sanlam or any other insurer, pay car instalments for a Ford, BMW, Mercedes, or any other vehicle, buy clothes from Mr Price, or purchase building materials from Cashbuild — and yet you don’t own shares in any of these companies — then you’re part of the mainstream economy, but only as a consumer.
You support these businesses daily. If you had also owned shares in them, you could have been richer than you are today.
