Research into the field of employment offenses has shown that it is impossible to identify any employee with a potential for betraying his employer’s trust according to a sectarian identity and socioeconomic belonging etc. In each population group there are employees who betray or who have, in the past, betrayed their employer's trust. The pre employment system starts with biometric criminal checks, we are proud of our efficient and effective turnaround time in supplying the results.

Once cleared, via SAPS, we may proceed with an integrity test (this confirms the details on CV, as well as highlighting topics that might not be previously disclosed). A handwriting analyses is done on the answers provided by the subject, which is followed with a polygraph test.

Criminal checks work on the client’s knowledge of the AFISwitch result process to utilize the results without unfairly discriminating against an applicant. It is very important for clients to understand the AFIS Criminal Checking process, in order to use the results of this check fairly when declining an applicant a position. These checks occur in a two-step process. The first part is where the fingerprints are sent electronically to the SAPS AFIS system and this system returns a result to the client with 24-48hrs. This result can either be “No Possible Illicit Activity Identified” or “Possible Illicit Activity Identified”. If it is “No Possible Illicit Activity Identified” then the applicant DOES NOT have a criminal record. BUT if it is “Possible Illicit Activity Identified” then it means that there is a POSSIBLE criminal record. The process then becomes a manual process at SAPS and takes 6weeks to 3 months. Clients should await the outcome of this check as we have established a 2% chance that the applicant does not have any record. If they do in fact have a record, the client should wait to find out the details of the record; the conviction type and date of conviction, to determine relevancy to the job.
