South Africa has the plans. But are the projects ready? 🇿🇦
A great infrastructure idea is not enough to attract funding.
Before investors, funders and contractors can move forward, a project needs the foundations behind the vision: a clear scope, credible costing, technical studies, approvals, a procurement plan and risks that have been properly understood.
That is the difference between a project that sounds promising and one that is ready to break ground.
President Cyril Ramaphosa put it simply:
> Plans must become prepared projects.
> Prepared projects must become investment.
> Investment must become construction.
South Africa does not only need more infrastructure plans.
It needs more projects that are ready to deliver reliable water, energy, transport, jobs and economic opportunity.
AEI Capital believes project preparation is where bankability begins.
Let us know on the comments section what do you think holds infrastructure projects back most: funding, approvals, planning or delivery capacity?
