🌙 Ramadan Mubarak ✨

“Take from their wealth a charity by which you purify them and cause them increase, and invoke blessings upon them.”
“خُذْ مِنْ أَمْوَالِهِمْ صَدَقَةً تُطَهِّرُهُمْ وَتُزَكِّيهِمْ وَصَلِّ عَلَيْهِمْ” — At-Tawbah [9:103]

As we enter this blessed month, let us remember the power of giving and compassion. Charity during Ramadan purifies your wealth and cleanses the soul. Big or small, every act of generosity matters.

Wishing everyone a blessed month! Keep an eye on our page for projects and ways you can help out this Ramadan. 🩷

Mandela Day 🌍, a day to honour Nelson Mandela’s life and his 67 years of fighting for justice, equality, and human dignity.

We are asked to give 67 minutes of our time ⏳ to reflect and take meaningful action, no matter how small. Mandela taught us that even the smallest actions can lead to meaningful change.

You can spend your 67 minutes by helping a neighbour, planting a tree, donating clothes or food, volunteering your time, teaching someone a new skill, cleaning up your community, or simply listening to someone who needs support.

How will you spend your 67 minutes today?

Poetic Movement Foundation is proud to stand beside this powerhouse team, rooted in love and service. — who work daily to uplift, protect, and care for their community.

Today, we had the honour of visiting Ethembeni Crisis Care Centre 💛

We gathered with the Kwandengezi community for lunch and a powerful workshop led by social worker Zonke, focusing on HIV awareness and gender-based violence — breaking the stigma, knowing your status, and learning to recognise and end the cycle of abuse.

Poetic Movement proudly sponsored the delicious Chicken Akhni, prepared by Manjras Catering 🥘, and shared gift hampers with the women and children at the shelter.

After our continuous collaboration with Ethembeni from afar, being back in person was a truly humbling and beautiful experience. 🤍 Amarah Hoosain

🇿🇦 Youth Day South Africa - June 16th
What it really means:
In 1976, thousands of black students in Soweto protested against the apartheid government forcing them to learn in Afrikaans, a language many didn’t understand, forced by an oppressive system.
The peaceful march turned tragic when police opened fire, killing many, including 13-year-old Hector Pieterson, whose image became a symbol of the struggle.
The Soweto Uprising became a turning point in the fight against apartheid, drawing global attention and outrage.
Today, we honour the bravery of the youth who stood up for freedom, justice, and equality. ❤️‍🩹

Shelter shelves stocked 🙏🏼 📦
Ethembeni Crisis Care Centre just received our latest drop‑off: groceries and—most needed of all—diapers for their tiniest residents. They expressed that they are so grateful. 🫶🏼

Today, we honour Freedom Day - a pivotal moment in South Africa’s history.
On 27 April 1994, the nation held its first democratic elections, granting all South Africans, regardless of race, the right to vote for the very first time.
Freedom Day stands as a powerful reminder of the resilience, courage, and unity that triumphed over centuries of oppression.
We celebrate liberation.
We celebrate progress.
We celebrate the power of every voice.

We also pray that our brothers and sisters in Palestine can face the same liberation one day inshallah. 🫶🏼
