Thatโs what a General Manager here in the UK told us during a conversation recently.
The topic was his career.
With his experience and potential, hindi ba siya nanghihinayang that he could probably be working for a much bigger company by now?
Magaling eh.
An until now, he still gets offers mula sa ibang companies.
Pero sabi nya, at this stage of his life, he has kids, he loves where he lives..
Ang saying yes to some of those opportunities would mean spending more time away from his family.
So he chose to stay sa mas maliit na company, pero malapit sa pamilya nya.
Napangiti ako because somehow, naka-relate ako.
Ganun din kasi yung choices na meron para sa maraming Pinoy abroad eh.
Career ba o pamilya?
Iโm nowhere near his stage in his career, but I know there are opportunities I could probably chase too.
Better pay, bigger companies l, sarap diba?
But when you also want to see your kids grow, hindi na lang salary and job title yung usapan.
You start thinking about location, working hours, ilang oras ba yung drive? Kasi all those things will now become part of your day, and that will mean that those will take time away from family too.
Pero syempre as a provider, kailangan din natin isipin yung career. Kasi better opportunities means better pay, and probably better options for our kids too.
Hirap din ng mga pagpipiliian natin mga OFW no?
Buti na lang ay multiple choice.
At habang di pa pwedeng piliin ang all of the above, for now eh Iโm just trying to find the best combination of both.
