CNote CNote is an award-winning impact investing platform that makes it easy to invest with your values. Invest in people, not products.

CNote was founded on two core principles. That financial products should not just serve a wealthy few, and that financial prosperity doesn’t have to be a zero sum game; you can make money and do good at the same time. We invest in community-focused projects that help build up the communities you live and work in. Your investments in CNote grow small businesses, build affordable housing, and help underserved communities thrive. Economic prosperity should not be off limits because of your zip code or how wealthy your parents are. It’s a virtuous cycle, the money you invest in CNote grows communities across the country and helps fuel the real engine of growth - the small business. Those success stories lead to more jobs, more income, and more wealth for you, the CNote customer.

Where do your deposits go?

Credit unions and community banks put more capital to work—allocating 70% and 69% of assets to loans, compared to just 49% at other banks.

🏪 Small businesses
🏡 Homebuyers

While big banks grab headlines, community banks and credit unions quietly outperform—with stronger core capital ratios that reflect lasting financial strength.

📊 In 2008, they held steady during the crisis.
📊 In 2024, they’re still outperforming historical averages.

Their secret? Mission-driven lending, deep community ties, and a commitment to long-term impact.

When financial institutions hold deposits, how much of that capital actually gets reinvested into local communities?

📊 Credit unions and community banks historically allocate a greater share of their assets to loans—70% and 69%, respectively—compared to 49% for other banks.

What does this mean? More of their capital is actively supporting:
🏪 Small businesses looking to expand
🏡 Homeowners securing mortgages
📈 Local economies growing from within

By prioritizing lending, these institutions strengthen the communities they serve, helping dollars circulate to communities who need it most.

We’re back with another insightful clip from our recent webinar with Impact Finance Center and the incredible Stephanie Gripne. Thank you also to Inclusiv for joining us in this conversation—they, like CNote, are doing incredible work to help investors align their cash with impact!

In this segment, CNote CEO Cat Berman highlights a powerful truth: The dollars sitting in your bank account aren’t neutral—they’re being put to work. The question is: Are they working for the things you believe in?

💬 “Where your cash sleeps at night matters, and you have a right to understand how those dollars work. When you work with CNote, you have one place, and one dashboard to see all of this information consolidated in one place—financial reporting, statements, 1099s, and the overall impact report.” – Cat Berman

🌍 Driving Climate Impact with Purpose and Partnership 🌍

We’re thrilled to spotlight our incredible partnership with Coalition, a nonprofit with a mission to unlock catalytic capital and change the future of climate finance. For over a decade, they’ve been catalyzing climate solutions, enabling innovation that holds the potential to mitigate gigaton-scale greenhouse gas emissions—an inspiring mission we're proud to support!

In 2023, Prime Coalition partnered with CNote to manage catalytic capital aggregated for their Azolla Fund I program (learn more here: https://bit.ly/3WLRmZe) . Here's what they shared about their experience:

"CNote’s community-centred impact approach stood out to us and continues to show up in every interaction between our teams. Their platform reduces our exposure to risk by laddering CDs and MMA instruments up to FDIC insurance limits, provides dependable investments to underserved community finance partners while delivering competitive returns, and ensures our charitable capital can have a double impact supporting under-resourced communities until the catalytic capital is deployed for Prime’s Azolla Fund I program. CNote’s values are also closely aligned with our organizational values of care, humility, and tenacity."

At CNote, we’re committed to aligning financial priorities with meaningful impact. We're grateful to collaborate with partners like Prime Coalition to amplify the power of catalytic capital and make a difference in underserved communities.

Prime Coalition and Azolla Ventures, an impact-first investing firm launched by Prime, announced a $239 million blended fund in 2023.
