How many of us are truly blessed to have grown up with an amazing Mom? I can raise both hands and say my Mom was simply the best! My Mom was the youngest of 7 and she was the Baby. I grew up with 22 first cousins - all on my Mom's side of the family! Can you believe that?
Back in the day, we did not have Social Media or Facebook -but I spent so much time with my family that I know all my cousins, and I love them all - even the crazy ones!
Many times, I get clients who will ask me what type of Medicare plan I would recommend for my Mom, or my family. Unfortunately, my Mom passed away at age 67, too young.
Here's the thing, many of my aunts and uncles died young. Heart disease runs in my family; my youngest uncle passed away from a heart attack at age 39. This left his family without much protection, because no one thinks they will die that young; he had no life insurance. Another cousin died at age 42, also of a heart attack. If you don't have life insurance, get some.
But it's not just about Life Insurance, people need to take care of themselves by getting the Medical tests and procedures they need.
That's why when people ask me what Medicare Plan I would recommend for my Mom - I say get the best plan available for you. Don't just look at the cost of the plan, or what free stuff you get with the plan, look at the Doctor network and out-of-pocket costs if something happens. Yes Health Insurance can be confusing and expensive, but not having the right plan when you need it most can be devastating. Work with a reputable Agent who can help you navigate the choices.
