This week, with our $50 loan, RMF helped María Natividad from Ecuador reach 100% of the funding she needs for her farm!

It is our first loan in South America!!

Here is some more information about María provided by Kiva:

María is 30 years old, single, and lives with her family in Guaranda canton, in Bolívar province.

The Mushuc Pakari community bank has 10 members who are all farmers and live 40 minutes away from the office.

María's business is selling vegetables. She grows potatoes, beans and melloco (a native root vegetable). She also raises cows and pigs.

María will use her loan money to buy fertilizers, and vaccines for her livestock. The loan will help her to raise her animals and improve her crops. She makes her purchases in Guaranda canton.

María's dream is to own her own home and to have a large vegetable business. The challenges that she faces are pests that attack her crops. In her free time, she enjoys being with her family.

RMF is grateful for the continued support! We gave out our 20th loan this week! The Malengo group from Tanzania plans to use this loan in many different ways. Jackson, the leader, plans to use the loan to buy chicken fee and insecticide. More information from Kiva below:

Jackson, who is in his late 30s, is married and has two children, one boy and one girl. Both of them are still going to school. He has been running different types of businesses, poultry and milk selling, for six years now. He works from 5.00 am to 6.00 pm daily and is able to make a good monthly profit.

This will be Jackson's 15th loan from Tujijenge Tanzania. He used the previous loans to start all his businesses. He used to have a garden, where he planted and sold vegetables. Then he bought chicks, fed them until adulthood, and sold them at a good price. He bought a calf, fed it until it became a big cow, and now he sells milk in plenty. He has managed to repay all his loans successfully. He used the profits to build two houses and covered his household's living expenses. He will use this new loan to buy chicken feed and insecticide. His dream is to become an international businessman.

Jackson will share this loan with his loan group, Malengo, which has 15 members in total, who will hold each other accountable for paying back the loan.

This week, we gave a loan to Helen from the Philippines! Thanks for all of the support! Below is some more information about Helen via Kiva:

As a married parent of two children, Helen works hard to support her family. She has a business, making and selling native mats, in the Philippines.

Helen successfully paid back her previous loan and is now requesting a new loan to further build her mat-making business. She is borrowing PHP 20,000 through NWTF. She will use the loan funds to purchase materials for making mats, for her business.

Helen has been sustaining her business activities through her past 15 loans from NWTF, and more recently, through Kiva. She hopes that her hard work will help her attain her dream -- to save enough money so she could afford to send her children to college.
