OK. Been getting lots of calls for water powered emergency backup sump pumps. These are backup pumps that operate on your city water pressure. This is not recommended for use with a well pump because if you lose power you lose the pump and water pressure. It is powered by connecting to a 3/4" cold water line. When you lose power this pump is still capable of removing 2gpm of water which is about the same as a 1/3HP electric sump pump. Most customers who purchase this item get fed up with maintaining battery powered backup pumps because of the high cost and frequency that battery backup pumps fail. A water powered pump only has one moving part, and that is the float which opens the venturi valve. There is no maintenance required. I use Zoeller Home Guard Max with a 3 year guarantee. Also it is code and very important to install a double check valve to act as backflow preventer to protect your water supply. Here is a photo of one I installed last week, .
