This is the second year I have had the opportunity to attend the Mentoring in Women event sponsored by the West Des Moines Chamber of Commerce. Last year I served as a mentor and this year an attendee - and both times I left feeling uplifted, inspired, and motivated. I’m especially grateful that I get to do this alongside the amazing women on my team at AKP Health Insurance.

One message in particular really stuck with me. A speaker shared that she once heard someone say at a funeral, “You don’t want your tombstone to say, ‘Excellent performance, but you missed the point.’”

It was such a powerful reminder that life isn’t just about how much we accomplish, how busy we are, or how well we perform. It’s about being present and actually enjoying the life we’re working so hard to build.

So here’s to being present, making memories, lifting each other up, and making sure we don’t miss the point. ❤️
