Imagine if all, or most, make it many or even just some factory-made food manufacturers would invest in this adjacent type of operations? 😱🤩

It may sound like the stuff of sci-fi movies, but diverting food waste from the landfill and converting it into electricity has become a real thing. William Brangham visited Ben & Jerry’s Vermont ice cream factory and the operations next door to find out how it works.

To wipe or not to wipe?
Third way and better option maybe, what about good ol’ soap and water? 🧼💦

Common ingredients in disinfectant wipes are linked to health harm and can contribute to antimicrobial resistance. Experts recommend cleaning surfaces with plain soap and water rather than disinfectants in most everyday scenarios.

On children and visible signs of heart disease on their arteries as early as age 10…

Take a listen for what can be done to stop or prevent the damage, starting with not following the SAD (Standard American Diet) diet and start consuming more fruit and vegetables.

A lot of common sense in this short episode, it’s just that we don’t typically visualize physical damage on brand new little people like young children, especially if they are not even overweight yet. A good reminder that an unhealthy diet is at work (a destructive one) from day 1 for those following it.

Worth a listen to learn, or as a wake-up call!

What to do with fallen leaves?

- In forests, fields, even in your yard, anywhere they fall on dirt and don’t “need” to be removed, by all means, let them be! They’ll be home to a whole ecosystem of living things that need them to complete their lifecycles. When that’s done and as they start decomposing, they’ll nourish the soil they rest on, thus completing a second essential role after their own death and fall from their trees…

- In places where they will be removed, whatever the reason is, like cities and pretty much all urban areas, where, comes the autumn season you start seeing plastic bags full of those dead leaves lined up by the curb (in NJ, in NYC in the U.S. anyway), by all means, yes to Releaf taking over and using those otherwise sent to the landfill bags, to create brand new paper that won’t equate to cutting down more trees, making paper bags that will decompose in 30 days.

Two caveats though... That is:
- Assuming Releaf Paper’s whole operations are not creating more pollution than they are avoiding. And…
- Assuming they/we can get people using Releaf Paper bags to compost those damaged or “I-am-done-with” Releaf bags after final use… Any other incentive than just doing the right thing?

Thoughts???

— Hi Releaf PAPER & BAGS 👋 Feel free to jump in for some business perspective!

Now if we could find a way to forget about leaf blowers and go back to raking leaves, that would be just dreamy… And our ears would be happy too!

Happy Sunday!

Here’s an I nteresting read about ways to reduce our daily exposure to microplastics and tiny traveling chemical
compounds, in particular in the kitchen, starting with our cutting boards….

Who would have thought cooking from scratch was still not enough to be the safest we can possibly be?!

Depending on the type of cutting board you use, your home-cooked meals could be contaminated with an unlikely ingredient – microplastics – according to a

Do we really need that extra tee shirt in our closet, knowing it’s going to disproportionally pollute the world, mostly the already poor countries, but where we live as well?

The fashion industry is the second-largest consumer of water and the second-largest polluter of water. Here's why.
