STOP SCROLLING!
I do! This was out my back door! The left photo is off Jenkins Creek and the the second one is Indianhead. Both pictures I took from my yard over the years. The lightning that started the fire off Jenkins Creek also struck a tree in our back yard splitting it in half, luckily it didn't catch fire, even though we were prepared with hoses in case it did. We spent days cleaning it up.
Checklist: Is Your Family Ready? π¨
With multiple fires active in our corner of Idaho right now, smoke isn't the only thing in the airβconcern is, too. Taking an hour today to prepare can save you a lifetime of headache later.
Check these 4 items off your list this week:
β
The Safety Plan: Sit down with your family and choose a dedicated meeting spot outside your neighborhood if you have to leave quickly.
β
The Animal Plan: If you have chickens, horses, or other livestock, ensure you have a clear plan for containment or trailer transport.
β
The Home Prep: Clear out the gutters and move any flammable patio furniture or wood piles away from the house structure.
β
The Policy Review: Pull up your homeowners or farm insurance policy. Ensure your coverage amounts match current market replacement costs, and check your policy's deductible for wind/fire damage.
Pro Tip: Take your phone and do a quick 3-minute video walkthrough of every room in your house and barn right now. Having a digital inventory is an absolute lifesaver if you ever need to file a claim.
Stay safe, look out for your neighbors, and don't hesitate to reach out if you want us to look over your current coverage limits.
