Charter Oak was proud to support a local celebration of National Hispanic Heritage Month in Groton this weekend, organized with help from Mujeres Entre Culturas, Town of Groton Parks and Recreation, Ledge Light Health District, and Groton Alliance for Substance use Prevention.

The event celebrated the beauty of Hispanic culture and the strong presence of the Latino community, with cultural dance performances representing Central and South America. Charter Oak Trailblazer, Donaven, joined the celebration with a table of Charter Oak giveaways and a cake, connecting with community members and showing our support for the local community.

We’re grateful for opportunities like this to celebrate culture, connection, and community.

Charter Oak's Winter Drive starts today!

We are asking for the following items in any size: new socks, new or gently used gloves, sweaters, jackets, and boots. All donations will be given to Covenant Soup Kitchen in Willimantic, CT.

We are accepting donations until November 18th at any of our branch locations. If you would like to donate, please put your donations in the box located in the lobby.

🌊 Investing in the future of our shoreline communities.

Thank you to East Lyme First Selectman Dan Cunningham and Rob Brule, Waterford First Selectman for sharing updates at this month's State of the Towns, and to Charter Oak Federal Credit Union President Craig Knell for opening the program. Founded in 1939, Charter Oak reflected on its longstanding commitment to the region, including more than $1 billion in assets and over $1 million in community giving.

East Lyme highlighted investments in public safety, including a new police chief, two new police officers, and a fire boat coming soon. Updates also included downtown Niantic improvements supported by cannabis tax revenues, ADA accessibility upgrades, boardwalk enhancements, and ongoing efforts to address sewer capacity constraints to support future growth.

Waterford also shared updates on hiring and investments across emergency services, including EMTs, firefighters, and dispatchers. The town as well discussed
its role as a nuclear host community, emphasizing data-driven decision-making and cost-effective budgeting that prioritizes residents while continuing to invest in critical capital and infrastructure projects. Lastly, leaders highlighted the importance of preserving and enhancing open spaces and housing implications with EB's new training facility at the former Crystal Mall site.
