Hot topic alert!
As we wrap up the ACAMS Singapore Symposium, we thank Assistant Commissioner of Police of the Singapore Police Force Aileen Yap for her brilliant session on harnessing the power of the community to fight scams.
In her special presentation, Aileen walked us through the top 10 scam types and how the Singapore Police Force is tackling them through swift, coordinated responses. These efforts are crucial to help recover the S$3.76 billion that has been lost to scams in the country over the past 8 years.
From establishing the Anti-Scam Centre to launching Project FRONTIER+, a transnational alliance of anti-scam units, she underscored the importance of real-time intelligence sharing and cross-sector collaboration across banks, telcos, and tech platforms.
“We harness the power of technology to disrupt scam operations and see immense value in strong public-private partnerships to enhance anti-financial crime efforts across markets. We hope to inspire the world with our anti-scam model.” – Aileen Yap
Whether it's freezing fraudulent funds, disrupting operations, or educating the public through tools like the ScamShield mobile app to block and report scams, the message was clear: everyone has a part to play.
Thank you to Aileen and all our other inspiring speakers for sharing your knowledge and helping the community in making Singapore (and beyond) safer from scams.
Sessions like these remind us why it’s important to collaborate with various organizations. Interested in connecting with the ACAMS Community? Have a look at what’s in store: www.acams.org/events.
