Yachad D.C.

Yachad D.C. Yachad's mission is to bring communities together by preserving affordable homes and revitalizing neighborhoods throughout D.C. and the metropolitan area.

Yachad means “together” in Hebrew, and that is how we do our work through partnerships with homeowners, houses of worship, nonprofits, and other community stakeholders. We mobilize skilled and unskilled volunteers, invest financial resources, and, through our work together, transform people and properties. Our mission is rooted in the Jewish commitment to seek justice by engaging in acts of loving

kindness. We welcome people of all faiths to share in our work to keep our communities diverse and vital.

Where you live matters.
This holiday season, don't buy a turkey for someone else in an act of charity. Instead, help repair a home so that another person can cook their own turkey in their now functioning kitchen. Support Yachad D.C. and support efforts to improve health and build wealth for lower-income DC homeowners.

This year Yachad is participating in Giving Tuesday through our partnership with Spur Local. Whether you give a little or a lot, we invite you to join us in doing good and giving local. Click here to join the effort:

GivingTuesday is a day for people all over the world to do good. On December 3, give back to local communities here in Greater Washington through Give Local Together, the region's official GivingTuesday campaign.

Yachad is honored to be awarded a Health Equity grant to better serve DC homeowners. Thirty-two nonprofit groups will receive $9.2 million in funding from the Health Equity Fund, which is managed by the Greater Washington Community Foundation. The fund was created last year, after the insurance company CareFirst agreed to pay $95 million to settle a 13-year legal battle between the insurer and the D.C. government.

Grants focus on economic mobility to address racial and income inequities in the District.

"Research shows that asthma disparities are highly driven by socio-environmental and economic conditions, and that structural injustices over time have led to accumulated disadvantages for Black populations in the United States."

Yachad's healthy housing work makes a difference for families with asthma.

Over the past 15 years, there have been moderate advances in U.S. public healthcare and research, but racial gaps outcomes have not changed.
