Shady Side, MD has generations of watermen, historically Black waterfront communities, old Chesapeake families, and places like the Captain Avery Museum that help tell the story of the people who have called this place home.

It’s that history that gives Shady Side its sense of place — and why it feels so different from anywhere else.

People often ask me where Shady Side, Maryland is. It’s about an hour from DC, tucked away on a little peninsula along the Chesapeake Bay.

That’s one of the things I love about living here — it feels worlds away from the city, even though it really isn’t.

But there’s more to Shady Side than its location. In Part 2, I’ll share a little of the history and the sense of place that makes this community so special.

The condo market isn’t always easy right now — higher interest rates, economic uncertainty, and a little extra chaos in the world 🌎 can make buyers more cautious.
