We thought for the new followers out there, we would introduce ourselves:

Red Barn is located in the great state of Vermont where you’ll find beautiful landscapes, hard- working people, small family farms and historic towns and villages, rich in heritage and tradition. In Vermont, it’s easy to find businesses that are generous with their resources, gentle with the environment, and are run by folks who believe that personal values are just as important as company profits.

Vermonters are famous for creating and appreciating products of outstanding quality and craftsmanship. These values are reflected in the decisions we make about the vendors we partner with, the products and programs we carry, and the way we work with our customers.

For too long we've been told that convenience will cure what ails us. The truth is, there's joy in inconvenience. It's inconvenient to hang your laundry out on the line, but a joy to stand in the sun and smell fresh linens drying. It's inconvenient to spend a few hours on a Sunday afternoon at the stove, cooking for the week ahead, but that food will nurture us for the days to come. On a busy Monday morning, convenience might be a pre-packaged breakfast bar, snatched and gobbled down on the way out of the door. Instead, we choose inconvenience. The inconvenience of harvesting rhubarb from a muddy backyard. The inconvenience of dirty dishes, and the inconvenient wait while a pan of rhubarb crisp bars cools. The inconvenience of eating not on the go, but in the sun, for a brief pause before the day begins.
