At its board meeting Wednesday in Jefferson City, MBA's Next Generation in Banking focused on legislation and advocacy for the banking industry. The board heard reports from MBA staff on federal issues, including stablecoin, and an overview of the state legislative session. The board also discussed potential topics for its annual leadership conference scheduled Oct. 27-28 in St. Charles.

Missouri banks that are members of the Federal Home Loan Bank of Des Moines have a great opportunity to receive more funding for affordable housing or community development projects!

The Member Impact Fund from FHLB Des Moines is a matching grant program that provides up to $3 for every $1 that a bank contributes to an eligible not-for-profit organization or government entity.

“This is the first time the Member Impact Fund has been made available for our Missouri members,” said Brad Spears, member relationships director for FHLB Des Moines. “Since 2023, the fund has donated more than $86 million to various projects.”

FHLB Des Moines members can now apply to receive an up to $3-to-$1 matching grant to support a not-for-profit organization or government entity that has a mission of promoting affordable housing or community development.

Funds can used for a variety of purposes such as affordable housing, down payment assistance, job training, financial literacy, food banks and youth programs.
