Every week, one thing I do is jump on discovery calls with beauty pros to learn about their businesses and share how I can help them with their bookkeeping.

Normally, these are a highlight of my week!! ✨

I love meeting new people and seeing the relief on their faces when they realize I'm not going to judge them for not having the world's cleanest books...

But on some not-so-fun days, I end up waiting around on Zoom for 16 minutes after our scheduled call, follow-up, and hear crickets.

I'm no stranger to getting ghosted! ✨

So I don't get mad, but I just want you to know, my discovery calls are no-strings-attached! We can chat, and you don't *actually* have to work with me if you don't want to.

HOT TAKE: It should be illegal to have a tax due date fall on a Monday! 🙃

If you clocked that quarterly taxes don't always follow a "quarterly" schedule, here's why ↓

Way back in the day, Tax Day used to be March 15th, so Congress counted three months out and set June 15th as the next estimated tax deadline. 📆

But when Tax Day got pushed back to April 15th (not complaining, btw), the June 15th deadline stayed the same.

Soooo, unfortunately, that's why your Q2 estimated taxes are due just two short months after you paid your April ones.

I don't make the rules; I just make sure you don't miss the deadlines! 🤷

You *might* be asking too much of Google Sheets...

It's time to tap QBO in if you want:

→ Your bank accounts to sync all of your transactions automatically
→ Customizable reports that you can compare to prior periods
→ To pay contractors and easily file their 1099s in one place
→ Extra features like branded invoices, time tracking, or inventory tracking

Your spreadsheet is tired! 🫩

Give it a well-deserved break, and I'll help you get your beauty business set up and everything transferred over to QBO.

April 15th came and went, you filed your taxes, and now you don't have to worry about your bookkeeping until next year...

Yeah, just know I've been kidnapped if you ever hear me say that seriously! 🤨

The *biggest* benefit of good bookkeeping is having up-to-date data to make decisions with all year long.

You still need to know how much money you made as a beauty boss in May, June, etc.

You still need to know where your business is spending the most money.

Treating your bookkeeping like it's optional until next year is exactlyyyy how you end up paying a premium for a last-minute clean-up, iykyk. 🥴

This is gonna surprise you...

The number one reason clients hire me is NOT because they don't know how to do their bookkeeping. 🙅

It might not be right up their alley, but they can definitely figure out the bookkeeping basics.

The *real* reason clients hire me?

I hear it over and over again:

"My time is better spent doing the marketing."

Or other business owners tell me:

"I don't want to spend my verrrry limited free time doing my bookkeeping."

Even though bookkeeping might not be the best use of YOUR time, that doesn't mean it's not super important for your business!

It just means you shouldn't be the one doing it (just leave it to someone like little ol' me). 📚

If I had a dollar for every time a client asked me, "Can I deduct this meal?", I'd be eating at Olive Garden every night! 🥘

Meals are tricky... the last thing we want is to give the IRS any reason to look at your business more closely.

If you've never heard of this account (and aren't throwing anything in it), consider yourself good to keep scrolling!!

But, if you even think you might need to use this account, here's what you need to know:

Undeposited Funds is a holding spot for client payments you've received; then, you can group them together into the bank deposit that matches what actually hits your account. 🏦

If you invoice using QuickBooks, this can be especially helpful to check off multiple invoices in a single bank deposit.

Lost? If you're going to mess around with Undeposited Funds, I strongly recommend hiring a bookkeeper to keep things straight for you.

This is an account I often clean up when I take on new bookkeeping clients, and I'd be more than happy to do it for you, too!

When I was a baby bookkeeper, I was happy to take on any and all clients' books... but I learned my lesson pretty quickly!

If I don't do a diagnostic review (a quick dive into your books to gauge their status), I can't give you an accurate quote, timeline, or scope of my work.

Being able to see what I'm dealing with helps manage both of our expectations!

It always goes one of two ways: a potential client is terrified to show me their "messy" books that aren't bad at all, OR someone thinks their books are pristine, but I find more than a few issues in them!

I want you to fully understand the service I'll be providing for you, how long I expect it to take, and why I'm pricing it the way I am. Then, you have all the power to choose if it makes sense to work with me! 🤗
