Hello! 👋 Happy Wednesday 🐪
I wanted to take a moment to share a friendly PSA:
Many people don’t realize how common food scarcity is among Medicare beneficiaries and retirees. A large portion struggle to put food on the table, which often leads them to consider going back to work. However, working again can be costly—especially if they receive additional assistance through programs like Extra Help and Medicaid.
I’m sharing this to encourage community awareness around this sensitive topic. If you know a loved one on Medicare who is considering returning to work, take a moment to talk with them about what they truly need each month.
Even a few hours of work per week could jeopardize crucial benefits like Medicaid, which helps cover medical expenses, medications, and often includes food and utility assistance through their Medicare Advantage plan or EBT. Losing these benefits could cost them thousands per year and may even put their access to life-saving medications at risk.
Earning a little extra could mean losing a lot. Instead of encouraging them to work, ask how you can support them. A simple conversation could help them make the best decision for their well-being.
Let’s look out for our community and loved ones. 💙❤️🤍
