““We Asked Collins” is a new feature we are introducing. We will ask Collins Bruner, Vice President at Offenhauser, questions about insurance that we all want to know. Our first “We Asked Collins” topic is AI. We see it every day on the news, social media (is it real? Or AI?), and communications we receive from a variety of sources.

The Insurance industry has its own challenges with AI, so our first question to Collins is how is AI affecting insurance claims?

“Used correctly, AI could reduce insurance claims. It can identify unsafe driving, detect unusual financial transactions, spot potential cyberattacks, predict equipment failures, or identify problems before they become expensive losses.

“AI may make businesses more efficient, but efficiency can concentrate risk. AI allows one person or one system to do the work of many people but, it can also allow one error, bad decision, data leak, or fraudulent instruction to become a very large insurance claim very quickly”

Our Personal Lines Manager, Carla Harris Bowman, was present at The United Way of Greater Texarkana Community Impact grant presentations.

More than 30 local nonprofit organizations gathered to present their funding requests as part of United Way’s annual funding review. The organizations are seeking a share of $500,000 in available funding through the Community Impact grant program for the upcoming fiscal year. This year, United Way is moving to a two-year grant cycle, with applications focused on three key areas of community need: health, education, and financial stability and opportunity, while avoiding duplication of existing programs.

The Community Impact committee recently reconvened to continue reviewing the applications and determine how these funds can best serve and strengthen the Texarkana community.
