Every card payment your business accepts carries a risk you can't see. Network tokenization mitigates that risk by replacing card numbers with secure stand-ins issued by the card networks.

When criminals steal a token, they get a worthless string of characters, and when a card is lost or reissued, the token updates automatically. That means you’re not only protected from fraudsters, but you also won’t have to worry about saved cards declining because they were reissued or expired.

Here are the numbers behind it:

- Tokenization can reduce fraud by up to 60%, and Visa estimates it prevented $650 million in fraud in 2023

- Failed payments cause about half of all subscription churn, and most failures aren't the customer's fault

- Tokenized transactions see a six-basis-point lift in global approval rates

- Juniper Research projects network tokens will secure 2.4 trillion transactions between 2026 and 2030

For merchants, that means fewer declines, steadier recurring revenue, and a lighter PCI compliance load, without development work or new hardware.

Our latest article breaks down how network tokenization works and how to get started. Read more:

In July, our leadership team came together in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin, for three days of strategy, connection, and learning.

As a remote-first company, these moments of connection are invaluable. They're how we build trust, sharpen communication, and get honest with each other about what's working and what isn't.

Over those three days, we celebrated what we've done well and sharpened our priorities for the road ahead, walked through our merchants' journey step by step, and found new ways to make a great experience even better.

At the end of the day, this time was about showing up better for our merchants, with the best ideas from that room already turning into action.

We left Lake Geneva energized, aligned, and excited for what's ahead.

Would you trust a chatbot to spend $300 for you?

Most shoppers are comfortable letting an AI assistant do product research. Far fewer will let one spend their money — especially without any oversight.

Agentic commerce is making its way into the mainstream, but at a much slower pace than experts originally expected.

Here's what the data shows:

Only 9% of consumers say they would let an AI agent complete a purchase on its own.

The discovery portion of AI shopping is already live, and it determines which businesses agents recommend.

Juniper Research still projects agentic commerce to grow from $8 billion today to $3.5 trillion by 2031.

Although the transaction side stalled, it’s important to take steps now to set yourself up for success. After all, if AI agents can't find your business today, there's a good chance they'll recommend a competitor once buying on customers' behalf becomes real.

Our latest article breaks down why agentic commerce slowed down and the four steps you should take to get ready for the future.

When a customer files a chargeback, a sale you thought was settled goes back into question. The funds come out of your account, a dispute fee gets added, and the burden of proof shifts to you. It happens more than it used to — Mastercard expects global chargeback volume to grow 37% by 2029.

The good news? A chargeback is the start of a process with rules, deadlines, and a real chance to recover your revenue.

In our latest blog, we walk through the six steps to take when a chargeback hits your inbox:

1) Read the notification and find the reason code

2) Check your response deadline

3) Decide whether to accept or fight

4) Gather compelling evidence

5) Submit a focused rebuttal letter

6) Track the outcome and learn from it

We also cover why nearly half of consumers have mistakenly disputed a purchase that was actually legitimate, plus the habits that prevent disputes before they're filed.

We've been all over the country this summer, attending trade shows and conferences in Nevada, California, and Minnesota, among others. Our team is always excited to meet new people and see Flute merchants and partners in person.

Thanks to everyone who stopped by to talk, ask questions, and tell us what's actually happening in their businesses. Those conversations are the best part of the job.

"From day one, it didn't feel like a vendor-client relationship — it was a true partnership."

With so many companies competing for your business, it's important to find a provider that truly partners with you, not just sells you payment technology.

That means hands-on support from day one, tools to accept every type of payment, and access to working capital and instant payouts — all in the same platform you use to manage your day-to-day.

Thanks so much to Don Bregin at TRU Payments for the kind words.
