My summers are spent in my California home that has an amazing view of the Pacific! This particular day I grabbed a coffee and took a 30 second commute to my deck. I ended spending hours there watching whales enjoying their summer. This is just one of hundred of shots I took. I made phone calls, did a conference call and shared the experience with my team across the country. It was a random moment that turned into a day I won't forget! How was your Monday commute?

According to a a 2016 study by Deloitte, millennials value work-life balance higher than all other job characteristics. This includes job progression, use of technology, and sense of meaning at work.

Not only do young people want more time off work, they also want more flexibility when they are working. According to the Deloitte study, 75% of millennials said they want more opportunities to work remotely. Millennials believe working remotely will increase job satisfaction and boost productivity. This generation is the first to enter the workforce with access to technology better enabling them to work from home.

As a result, it’s no surprise millennials want to capitalize on the new capabilities allowing for such flexibility.

Millennials want flexibility, work-life balance, and to excel professionally. While prior generations still maintain the higher ranks at corporations, over-time, millennials will climb corporate ladders, filling these positions and be able to make changes they’ve always wanted.
