I tried to do it all. The demanding federal job. The early mornings, the late nights, the perfect mom, the perfect wife, the perfect everything. For years.
And for a while I genuinely believed the problem was me. That I just needed to manage my time better, wake up earlier, push harder, prove I could handle it all without cracking.
It never fit. Because it was never supposed to.
I spent years building a career I was proud of, the kind of job most people said I was lucky to have. And I was still exhausted, still missing my kids, still waiting for a version of “success” that kept moving the goalpost every time I got close.
The moms I talk to every day aren’t lazy. They’re not bad with money or bad with time. They’re exhausted from playing a game that was never built for them to actually win. One where working harder is the only answer they’re ever given.
I’m not doing that anymore. Not the guilt. Not the golden handcuffs. Not the performance of having it all together while quietly falling apart.
I built my own way out. Quietly saving, learning, investing, until I didn’t need permission to leave. Now I help other moms build that same exit, one decision at a time.
Which one are you finally giving yourself permission to drop?
