As we recognize Hispanic Heritage Month, we're highlighting our community partner, Mi Centro - Tacoma, WA, an organization dedicated to supporting Latino and Indigenous families through education, advocacy, family outreach, and arts and cultural programming.

Their work creates opportunities for people to connect with their heritage, access resources, and build a stronger sense of community.

And the celebration doesn't stop when Hispanic Heritage Month ends!

Mi Centro has several events happening throughout October, including dance workshops, art activities, poetry, and Día de los Mu***os celebrations.

Some of the most meaningful financial education happens when young people have the space to ask questions, work through real-life examples and start connecting financial tools to their own future.💙

That is the kind of moment captured here as Richard Stirgus, TAPCO’s VP of Marketing and Community, speaks with students while President and CEO Justin Martin joins the conversation with the Biz Kidz book in hand.

It also connects directly to why TAPCO’s selection for the At-Risk Youth Financial Well-Being Grant matters.

TAPCO is one of 24 credit unions nationwide selected to receive the grant, giving us additional support to continue expanding practical financial education and creating learning experiences that help young people understand how checking, saving and credit can work together.

Richard put it simply: “If you can help individuals understand how to leverage a checking account, a savings account, and credit, you can help them build a successful financial plan.”

This support gives TAPCO and our community partners another opportunity to keep turning those conversations into learning people can carry forward.
