Alphonso was born in Gary, Indiana and then relocated to Madison, Wisconsin at the age of 4. He has a rare, progressive neurodegenerative disorder. He enjoys working and has a very friendly, engaging personality that tends to lift the spirits
of those around him. Alphonso graduated from high school in 2009 and began his aluminum recycling business, MEGA CANS. He collects used can
s from people and businesses in the community, crushes them, and recycles them at local recycling centers in order to earn a living. Alphonso gets a lot of satisfaction from his work. His family helps Alphonso with day-to-day business operations, making MEGA CANS a truly family-oriented business. Alphonso uses his head or his hand to push a switch that operates his can crusher, and when the crunching sound begins, a big grin spreads across his face. Anyone who sees Alphonso in his work environment will understand how much joy he gets from his work. HELP THE ENVIRONMENT
