Weekly Freight Rates (Week of 4/6/2026)

Published 4/9/2026 · 1 min read
Week over week, we are seeing that spot load post is down 10.8% compared to last week. This means that there is a decrease in the number of loads that need to be hauled.
Spot rates are keeping up with the increase in fuel prices. In February, spot rates for dry vans were $2.42 per mile and increased $0.31 for the first week of April. Fuel prices were $3.81 per gallon in February and increased $1.83 per gallon. Looking at the chart below, we see that spot rates are keeping up with fuel prices and truckers are still able to remain profitable.
Trailer Type Increase in spot rates Increase in fuel Difference
Dry Van $ 775.00 $ 653.57 $ 121.43
Flatbed $ 1,800.00 $ 653.57 $ 1,146.43
Re**er $ 775.00 $ 653.57 $ 121.43

🚛 Running Empty Could Cost You More Than You Think Breaker one-nine… quick heads up 👇
A lot of trucking policies don’t cover you when you’re running unladen and if there’s no proof you were logged on dispatch,👉 claims can be denied.
That means during:
✔️ Deadhead
✔️ Repositioning
✔️ Between loads
…you could be fully exposed.
I work with A-rated trucking markets through Transportation Insurors / Northwoods Insurance that are built to close that gap and keep you covered—serving drivers nationwide.
💰 Financing available for monthly insurance payments

Weekly Freight Rates (Week of 3/23/2026)

Week over week, we are seeing that spot loads are up 13.2% and spot truck post are down 7.0%. This shows that there are more loads ready to be hauled than truckers available.
The van load to truck ratio shows us how many loads are available per truck. For the month of February, we see that the van load to truck ratio was 9.13. This means that there are 9 trucks available for 1 load.
For March, we see that this number increased to 10.02.
The more trucks that are available for 1 load shows that shippers have more options to shop around to see who can haul goods at a cheaper rate per mile.
Spot rates continue to increase as more truckers are denying cheaper rates and only looking at rates that are more reasonably priced.

Month over month, we are seeing that more truckers are looking for freight to haul.
There is a 3.1% increase in trucks available to work. Also, there is a 18.5% increase in spot load posts.
Comparing 2025 Q4 to Q1 of 2026, we see that spot rate are more favorable for truckers. Looking at the tender rejection rate, we see that more truckers are not accepting loads that are low in price.
With gas prices increasing over $5.00 per gallon, we should see the rejection rate increase as truckers may begin to deny more loads because of the increase in gas prices.
The current tender rejection rate is at 18.07% and as we continue to monitor this report, we should see spot rates increase as they did in the beginning of 2026.
