Last week Otis managed to get bit by a snake, which turned into an emergency vet visit. Almost $1000 later, everything turned out okay. However, he was not exactly happy about the cone of shame situation 😄

It is a good reminder how fast things can change. We get into our routine, until something unexpected happens...out of nowhere. We need to be prepared for these kinds of unplanned events.

That is something I see pretty often in my work. Helping people think through those "what if" moments before they happen. That way an unexpected, "drop everything and go" situation, is not detrimental to their financial journey.

Spent some time yesterday morning volunteering with my church at the Triad Honor Flight send‑off at the airport.

It’s one of those experiences that’s hard to fully put into words unless you’re there...seeing the veterans, the families, and so many people showing up early just to make sure they’re recognized the way they should be before heading to Washington, D.C. for their day of adventures.

There was a lot of energy, a lot of appreciation, and a lot of well‑deserved attention on them throughout the morning.

Triad Honor Flight does an incredible job organizing these trips and making the day special from start to finish. It was clear how much care and effort goes into making it a meaningful experience for every veteran involved.

Grateful I had the opportunity to be there and be a small part of honoring them on their day.

Not from today but fitting for Cinco de Mayo on Taco Tuesday!

Smoked tacos al pastor and homemade salsa...both things that reward patience and paying attention to the details. You can follow a recipe, sure, but knowing when to adjust, wait, or change course usually makes the biggest difference.

That’s one of the things I genuinely enjoy about working as a financial advisor. The process matters. Taking time. Asking questions. Making thoughtful adjustments instead of rushing to a result.

One thing that surprises a lot of people about working with a financial advisor isn’t spreadsheets, charts, or even numbers.

It’s conversation.

Most meaningful progress doesn’t come from having the “right answer” immediately, it comes from talking things out, asking better questions, and having someone slow the moment down when life starts moving fast.

Sometimes the most useful part of the process is simply having a place to say things out loud and make sense of them, without pressure or urgency. Let me know if you are ready for a conversation!

One thing that’s been on my mind more lately is how different time feels as your kids get older. When they’re young, time feels full and busy. When they’re adults, time with them has to be more intentional.

Moments like these don’t just “happen” anymore. You must put in the effort for them.

These are the kinds of days I know we’ll remember later and I am glad we made the time to have them!
