Had a great time at Topgolf this past Friday conducting our Investing for Your Retirement workshop.

I really enjoyed the conversations, questions, and getting a change to meet with the folks at Triad Kids Dental. Not to mention the good food and fun playing the games at Topgolf!

Spent the morning volunteering with my church at the Triad Honor Flight send-off, celebrating and thanking veterans as they headed out for their special trip to Washington DC. Seeing the veterans honored as they make their way to their gate, while listening to the drum line, is an always awesome experience.

Then a few hours later, I had the chance to represent Thrivent at the Cancer GPS Patient Appreciation Day at Hayworth Cancer Center in High Point. For which I got to experience my first ever butter bean auction event!

Two very different events, one amazing day! I am grateful for the opportunity to be part of events like this!

Over the weekend, our Thrivent Action Team had the opportunity to spend an evening at the Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Piedmont Triad preparing a meal for 45 families staying there.

The meal itself wasn't anything fancy. It was a group of volunteers chopping, mixing, cooking, packaging meals, and working together to help make someone's day a little easier.

The Ronald McDonald House provides an incredible service for families who need to stay close to a loved one receiving medical care. Being able to play a small part in supporting those families was time well spent.

One of the things I enjoyed most was seeing everyone come together with a common purpose. No meetings. No agendas. Just people willing to show up and help where they could.

Grateful for everyone who volunteered their time and for the Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Piedmont Triad for the work they do every day.

Sometimes making a difference isn't about doing something big. It's simply about showing up and helping where you can.

Like a lot of folks, we were able to take a family vacation to the beach a couple of weeks ago. It was quite nice to disconnect from the day-to-day for a week, but it definitely took some time to get caught up when I got back.

Now we have football games on TV (even though it is preseason) this week, which has me excited! Like every year, I am optimistic about my Carolina Panthers and fully expect to win the Super Bowl...or at least get there lol.

All football teams whether it is high school, college, and the NFL, they are putting a plan in place for the season ahead.

The same can be said for the seasons of life we are currently in or about to enter. Whether that is retirement, college, family vacation, or the kids going back to school, having a financial plan in place makes all the difference.

Money is not the goal. It is a tool. A tool to help you enjoy the things you've been planning for in the first place.
