Thanks to Natlee Mcleod, owner of SBA member “The Good Stuff Vintage Resale Store” at 4705 North Henry Boulevard in Stockbridge, for hosting our monthly Small Business Marketing Series event for May 2017. Attendees really enjoyed seeing the variety of items available at the shop, and hearing about the great conversations and community engagement shoppers experience there. In addition, we had no idea she was an accomplished caterer as well – her refreshments were amazing and presented so well!
We also wanted to shout out Kim Wynette, in Commercial Sales with SBA member Terminix Commercial for the beverages and the information about the services they provide.
We had our networking portion of the evening from 6 to 6:30PM, with many folks getting to know each other and their respective businesses.
After giving Natlee and Kim some time to showcase their businesses as hosts, we welcomed our speaker for the evening; Steve Cash, Executive Director for the Henry Council for Quality Leadership Education. This local 501(c)(3) implements the “Leader In Me” program at Cotton Indian Elementary school, and hopes to leverage their success there by implementation of the program, based on Steven Covey’s “7 Habits of Highly Successful People”, in all the schools in the Stockbridge cluster. We learned a lot about the efficacy of the program, and how it develops the 21st-Century skills that businesses say are lacking in the current workforce. David Clark, of SBA member C&C Fence said this is a call to action for us to engage other business folks in our community to speak with officials at their schools to get them interested in implementing this program. As Stockbridge stakeholders, we really need to look at how we can invest in this program with our time, talent, or treasure to help develop a deep bench of true local leaders to ensure the future viability of the Stockbridge community.
We look forward to seeing you on June 15th for our next event in the series :)
