OHHF is dedicated to maintaining and improving quality of life by providing financial assistance to individuals with spinal cord injuries. A 501© (3) organization, it was originally established by members of the Darien, CT community in response to Obie’s spinal cord injury in a swimming accident on July 4, 1997, which left him paralyzed. Since inception, the Foundation has made over 250 grants tot

aling $2,000,000. The Big Assist, now in its fifth year, has become a major fundraiser to support the work of the Foundation. The Big Assist is an exhibition hockey game with NHL, AHL, Elite European League players and current and former Division I/III college players. Louis of the Tampa Bay Lightning, Matt Moulson of the NY Islanders, and event organizer Ryan Shannon of the Zurich Lions and Stanley Cup Winner with the Anaheim Ducks. 100% of the proceeds from the game are directed to the Obie Harrington-Howes Foundation (OHHF).
