When buying your first home HOA is something to consider AHEAD of time. The biggest goal of the HOA is to increase property value in that community.

Pro's
--> HOA's typically offer some amenities such as : Security, Clubhouses, Playgrounds, Parking Garages, Swimming Pools and Community Events
--> Possible increased home value
--> Nice neighborhoods

Cons
--> Membership dues
--> Some restrictions and possibly a lack of privacy
--> Karens! There's always that one who takes the whole HOA thing to a whole new level. Who knows though, she may even become a friend. ours did
