Happy Fall Y'all!

Medicare's Annual Enrollment Period is kicking off on October 15th!

The Annual Enrollment window to add, drop or change your existing Medicare Advantage plan is from October 15th to December 7th. Act fast to make changes for plan year 2025!

Due to the Inflation Reduction Act, there are huge changes to Medicare Advantage and Prescription Drug plans for 2025. The biggest change is the elimination of the Part D (Prescription drug) Coverage Gap, which will save seniors paying for high cost Tier 3-5 medications inordinate amounts of dollars. Carriers are changing Medicare Advantage and Part D plans for 2025 to compensate for the additional out-of-pocket costs they will now be assuming for prescription medications. It's important to get educated non on how YOUR and your loved ones plans may change for 2025! The Medicare industry is seeing things such as higher monthly plan premiums and co-pays, reductions in some ancillary benefits such as dental, vision, hearing, chiropractic, etc., as well as the addition of drug deductibles and increased co-pays for medications.

If you'd like to learn more about the plans offered through United Healthcare for 2025, I will be hosting community meetings at the Hyatt Place Reno-Tahoe Airport on the followings dates/times through the annual enrollment period:

October 15th: 11 a.m.
October 23rd: 1 p.m.
October 29th: 11 a.m.
November 7th: 10 a.m.
November 12th: 1 p.m.

Please join me at one of these meetings and be prepared to get educated on the changes to and benefits of Medicate Advantage and what plans United will be offering for 2025. Message or call me if you'd like to attend!

If you have any questions or need my assistance, I'm always here to help!

16 days left until Open Enrollment ends!!!!

If you want to switch to Medicare Advantage from Original Medicare (parts A/B) or from a Supplement this is your only opportunity until October 15th, 2023.

If you have a Supplement and this will be your first time enrolling in Medicare Advantage, you will have a 12 month trial period by law to “try out” Medicare Advantage and return to a Supplement without having to answer any medical questions! You will be guaranteed the right to return to an equivalent or lesser supplement with the same or a different carrier.

If you have a supplement already and want to see if you can save money for the exact same coverage with a different carrier, call me! United Healthcare has amazing rates and a history of the smallest future rate increases. Call me- zero obligation to change!
*** most people don’t know this, but you can make changes to your Supplement coverage without having to answer medical questions yearly on/around your birthday month in Nevada and California***

What are Dual Special Needs Plans and who qualifies for them?

Individuals who have both Medicaid (low income) and Medicare (65+ YOA or on disability for 2+ years) may qualify for what's called a DUAL SPECIAL NEEDS PLAN (DSNP).

DSNPs are offered by private insurance carriers and most provide additional coverage for the indigent such as Vision, Dental, Hearing, chiropractic, NO co-pays for doctor/specialist visits, essential surgical procedures, inpatient hospital stays, skilled nursing up to 100 days, urgent/emergency care, diagnostics, and ambulance rides. They also come with an over-the-counter/healthy foods debit card, very low or no cost drug prescriptions, 48 free one way rides to doctor's visits, pharmacies, grocery stores, etc., and so much more.

Most people have no idea these benefits exist, but could use the extra help they offer, especially in the current economic climate we are living in.

Please spread the word to anyone you know who is covered by both Medicaid and Medicare and could use the extra help! These plans are truly remarkable. I can get them enrolled so that their benefits take effect almost immediately.

Thanks for reading and have a great day!! Jena

So, do you know...

Once enrolled in Original Medicare (Parts A and B), recipients have two options for additional medical coverage:

Option #1: Supplements (Medigap) - Includes a monthly premium (in addition to the Part B premium) and pays most or all of the medical costs not covered by Original Medicare (depending on the plan chosen); these plans do NOT include Part D prescription drug coverage so a stand-alone Part D plan may be obtained for an additional premium and to avoid a Part D late enrollment penalty.

Option #2: Advantage Plans (Part C) - Typically have no monthly premium and usually includes Part D prescription drug coverage with a low/no monthly premium, as well as Dental, Vision and Hearing coverage; these plans have out-of-pocket maximums to provide protections against high medical costs. These plans are offered by private insurance carriers like United Healthcare, Aetna, Humana, etc.

Call/message me if you have any questions!

Happy Spring 😊

So... how does someone qualify for Medicare Part A and Part B upon turning 65?

If you or your spouse earned 40 cumulative quarters (10 years) of work credits by paying F**A taxes, you qualify for premium free Part A and Part B (premium cost).

The standard 2022 Part B premium is $170.10/month, however, the premium is subject to an income-related monthly adjustment amount depending on how much money you earned on your tax return 2 years prior.

If you don't sign up for Part B when you are first eligible but later decide to obtain coverage, you will be subject to a penalty of 10% for each year you were not enrolled in Part B. The penalty is added to your Part B monthly premium.

9 more days till the Medicare Advantage Open enrollment period is over! If you want to make changes to your Part C coverage after 3/31, you’ll have to wait until the annual election period (AEP) of October 15th to December 7th, unless you qualify for a special election period.
