Leslie Taranto, Jr, Licensed Agent

Leslie Taranto, Jr, Licensed Agent Agent licensed to sell insurance through New York Life Insurance Company. I’ve never been very good at talking about myself. That’s different. Steady hands.

Self-aggrandizement makes me uncomfortable. But stewardship, service, and building things that last? For the past five years, I’ve been a business owner here in Slidell. For the last four, I’ve served as a licensed life and health professional, currently licensed in Louisiana, Texas, Mississippi, Alabama, and Kansas. I care deeply about the communities I serve — not just professionally, but person

ally. I’ve worked alongside several nonprofit organizations and am currently helping manage one (hopefully not forever… just kidding). What drives me isn’t transactions. It’s responsibility. I work with professionals and business owners who do their fair share, people who show up for their families, their employees, and their communities. They tend to be thoughtful, tax-aware, and intentional. What they don’t want is to build something meaningful only to find themselves without options when it’s time to step away. Here’s the picture I often share:

Most business owners spend decades constructing a corporate building. They pour the foundation, frame the walls, add the glass, polish the lobby. They build something strong. But somewhere along the way, no one installs the exit signs. My role is to help identify where those exits should be and to make sure they’re clearly marked. Not in a dramatic way. Not in a rushed way. But in a thoughtful, steady, well-planned way so that when the time comes, leaving is safe, orderly, and aligned with what matters most. Wise planning. Enduring legacies. Bold Future.

“If you’re not growing, you’re dying.”

That is not just a business principle.... It is a stewardship principle.

Anything living must be cultivated.

A tree left unpruned does not become stronger by neglect.
A leader who stops learning does not stay sharp.
A business that stops improving does not stay healthy.
A soul disconnected from the Vine does not bear fruit.

Decline usually starts quietly.

You stop asking questions.
You stop receiving correction.
You stop cutting out distractions.
You stop tending what God entrusted to you.

And slowly, neglect begins to look normal.

Growth is not always expansion.

Sometimes growth is:
discipline (sticking to a system).
repentance (changing your mind).
pruning (cutting back).

Sometimes growth is simply being faithful with the field God gave you.

If it has life, then cultivate it.
If it bears fruit, then protect it.

If it is dying, do not decorate the decay.
Prune it. Water it. Tend it.

Sometimes, that means cutting it down and moving on.

Some people need to learn how to say “yes.”
Some of us need to learn how to say “no.”

There is no shortage of work to be done in the world.

There is also no shortage of people who will gladly take your time, wisdom, labor, and energy for free.

But when you always stand up, you may unintentionally teach others they can remain sitting.

That is not always service.

Sometimes it is enabling.

Some fortresses need to come down: laziness, pride, entitlement, fear, and passivity.

But some walls need to be built: around your family, your time, your energy, and the mission God gave you.

Not every opportunity is an assignment.

Not every request is your responsibility.

Not every person asking for access is entitled to entrance.

You have intrinsic value because you were created by God, not because you are useful to everyone else.

Serve generously.
Love deeply.
Give wisely.
But do not surrender your God-given assignment to people who simply want convenience.

Boundaries are not bitterness.

Sometimes a holy “no” protects the greater “yes.”

UNHINGED BIO: LES “CONTROL > CHAOS” TARANTO

Somewhere in Slidell, there exists a man who looked at the financial industry—an industry built on confusion, commissions, and vibes—and said:

“Yeah… I’m going to weaponize clarity.”

That man is Les Taranto.

Part financial strategist, part philosophical street preacher, part “why are you like this” energy, Les doesn’t sell products—he dismantles your entire understanding of money and rebuilds it brick by brick until you’re questioning every loan, every policy, and every ‘financial guru’ you’ve ever trusted.

While most advisors are out here screaming about returns, Les is in the corner muttering things like:

“Revenue is loud. Control is quiet.”

And somehow… he’s right.

He operates through White Wave Strategies LLC, which sounds peaceful, but make no mistake—this is less “gentle wave” and more “financial undertow that drags bad decisions out to sea.”

His client base?

Contractors
Entrepreneurs
Business owners
Veterans

Basically, people who’ve already been punched in the face by reality and don’t need fluff—they need truth.

Les has built influence from the Gulf Coast to the East Coast, quietly expanding while everyone else is busy posting motivational quotes over stock photos.

He doesn’t chase hype.
He dissects systems.

He’s the guy who will:

Compare a bank loan to a policy loan mid-conversation
Break your assumptions in 3 sentences
Then casually go, “Most people pick wrong.”

No dramatic pause. Just damage.

Also—because one lane isn’t enough—he’s out here serving as President of a business network like some kind of low-key economic war general, building alliances over breakfast meetings while everyone else is still hitting snooze.

And the vibe across everything?

Not:
“Let me impress you.”

But:
“Let me show you how much you’ve been lied to.”

In short:

Les Taranto is what happens when:

A strategist gets tired of surface-level thinking
A salesman refuses to “sell”
And a man decides control matters more than cash flow hype

He’s not trying to be the loudest voice in the room.

He’s trying to be the one you remember when your current plan stops making sense.

It was a great morning at the Reveille!

It was an incredibly informative meeting, so much packed into one session. I’ll admit… I wish I had taken better notes because there was a LOT on the agenda.

From upcoming community events to hearing from individuals running for office here in St. Tammany, it was a valuable opportunity to stay engaged, connected, and informed.

Grateful to be part of conversations that keep our local community connected and moving forward. Please feel free to come, it's the last Friday of each month.

Thank you, Reveille Northshore!

When Heath Ledger passed away at just 28 years old, leaving behind a legacy and his then two-year-old daughter.

At the time of his death in 2008, his will had not yet been updated to include his daughter, Matilda. Legally, that could have created a difficult and prolonged estate process.

But here’s the part that doesn’t always make headlines:

His family chose to give his entire estate to Matilda.

Shortly after, his fellow actors from The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus, Johnny Depp, Jude Law, and Colin Farrell all donated their earnings from the film to a trust for her benefit.

It’s a rare and beautiful example of generosity overriding technicalities.

It’s also a quiet reminder:

Succession does not always unfold so smoothly.

Blended families. Minor children. Outdated beneficiary designations. Business interests. Real estate in multiple states. Each can complicate what we assume is “simple.”

When intentions are clear and documents are current, transitions tend to reflect love rather than logistics.

When they aren’t, even good families can face avoidable friction.

Estate and succession planning isn’t about wealth size. It’s about clarity.

Steady hands. Wise planning. Enduring legacies.
Bold Future.

Revenue is exciting.
Cash flow feels empowering.

But control is quieter.

Many business owners focus on growth, as they should.
However, few pause to ask: “Is my growth structured wisely?”

Taxes are not punishment.
They’re part of the landscape.

The question is never whether they exist.
"In this world nothing can be said to be certain, except death and taxes..." - Benjamin Franklin, letter to Jean-Baptiste Leroy regarding the new U.S. Constitution in 1789.

The question is whether you planned for them.

Strong businesses don’t just generate income.
They build systems.

Systems reduce reaction.
Reaction increases stress.

Wise planning brings steadiness.

Tax season is over.

You filed.
You paid.
You survived it.

Now the real question is...
How does that make you feel?

Relieved?
Frustrated?
Proud?
Drained?
Indifferent?

For some, it feels like closure.
For others, it feels like exposure.

Taxes are rarely just about numbers.
They’re a mirror.

They reflect:
• Structure
• Preparation
• Growth
• Gaps
• Momentum

Some people finish April feeling organized.
Some feel reactive.
Some feel behind.
Some feel in control.

There’s no judgment in that.
But there is information.

What did this tax season reveal?

Because what it revealed…
is worth paying attention to.

Many professionals confuse their identity with their title.

Owner. Founder. Partner. CEO.

But business ownership is a role, not a definition.

Roles grow.
Titles change.
Companies scale or pivot.

If everything depends on you personally, growth becomes fragile.

Strong businesses are structured to outlast personality.

Succession is not pessimism.
It’s maturity.

A bold future requires thinking beyond your current seat.
