📣 Real-life example: On SSDI, had Medicare and Medicaid… but didn’t know he qualified for more.
I recently spoke with a gentleman in Missouri who’s been on SSDI for several years.
He had:
✅ Medicare (Part A & Part B)
✅ Medicaid
He thought that meant everything was already set up the best way possible.
But here’s what he didn’t know…
Because he has both Medicare and Medicaid, he qualifies as “dual eligible.” That means there are specific Medicare Advantage plans in Missouri designed just for people like him — and they often include extra benefits beyond Original Medicare.
He was missing out on potential benefits like:
👉 Dental coverage
👉 Vision coverage
👉 Hearing aids
👉 Over-the-counter allowances
👉 Transportation assistance
👉 A care coordinator
All because no one had reviewed his options with him.
He assumed Medicare + Medicaid automatically meant he had the “best” coverage available. In reality, he had never explored the Medicare Advantage plans available in Missouri that are built specifically for dual-eligible individuals.
The good news? After reviewing his situation, we helped him enroll in a plan that better fits his needs — with additional benefits and $0 plan premium cost.
📌 The takeaway:
If you’re on SSDI and have both Medicare and Medicaid, you may qualify for more benefits than you realize — but they don’t automatically enroll you into the plan that maximizes them.
If you live in Missouri and aren’t sure whether you’re taking full advantage of your coverage, let’s talk. A quick review could unlock benefits you didn’t even know were available. 💙
