📣 Real-life example: Had VA benefits and Original Medicare, but wanted to explore ways to lower costs for non VA facilities and add benefits.

I spoke with a veteran who was enrolled in:
✅ VA health benefits
✅ Medicare Part A
✅ Medicare Part B

She came to us looking for ways that may help with her Part B premium and to see if any plans may offer additional benefits like:
👉 Dental care
👉 Vision exams and glasses
👉 Hearing coverage
👉 Over-the-counter (OTC) allowances

Like many, she believed her VA coverage and Original Medicare were all she needed and wasn’t aware there may be other Medicare plan options available to her.

During our conversation, she also mentioned:
👉 lower out-of-pocket costs for services received outside of VA facilities
👉 Not fully understanding how her VA coverage works alongside Medicare

After reviewing the plans available in her area, she chose to enroll in a Medicare Advantage plan that may offer a Part B premium reduction (“giveback”), along with additional benefits she needed.

📌 The takeaway:
Veterans with VA benefits may still want to explore Medicare plan options based on their individual needs and location. Understanding how your coverage works may help you make more informed decisions.

📣 Real-life example: Thought his only option was Original Medicare.

I spoke with a gentleman in Missouri who had just turned 65 and enrolled in Medicare.

He had:
✅ Medicare Part A
✅ Medicare Part B
✅ A standalone Part D prescription drug plan

He told me he chose that setup because it’s what a friend recommended, and he assumed that was the standard way everyone enrolls.

But during our conversation, he mentioned he was concerned about a few things:
👉 Dental care
👉 Vision exams and glasses
👉 Hearing aids
👉 Out-of-pocket costs if he needed hospital care

What he didn’t realize is that there are multiple ways to structure Medicare coverage, depending on someone’s situation and the plans available in their area.

After reviewing his options, he decided to enroll in a Medicare Advantage plan available in Missouri that included additional benefits he was interested in.

The key point is this — he didn’t know those options existed until someone walked through them with him.

📌 The takeaway:
Many people enroll in Medicare based on what they hear from friends or family, but everyone’s situation is different. A quick review can help you understand the options available where you live.

Medicare can feel complicated, but it doesn’t have to be. My goal is to help simplify Medicare so you can clearly understand your options and feel confident about your coverage.

One important thing to know: Original Medicare doesn’t cover everything, which can leave gaps in coverage. The two main ways people fill those gaps are through a Medicare Advantage plan or a Medicare Supplement (Medigap) plan.

Each option works differently, and the right choice depends on your healthcare needs, doctors, and budget. Understanding these options is the first step toward making the best decision for your situation.

If you’re feeling overwhelmed by Medicare, you’re not alone—guidance can make the process much easier.

Medicare Made Simple

Your health is an investment, but it doesn’t always have to be an expensive one. 🩺 Did you know that your carrier may offer a rewards program, and those incentives might even be eligible to be used toward your co-pay? Before your next visit, check your balance and keep those extra dollars in your pocket. 💸

📣 Real-life example: On SSDI, had Medicare and Medicaid… but didn’t know he qualified for more.

I recently spoke with a gentleman in Missouri who’s been on SSDI for several years.

He had:
✅ Medicare (Part A & Part B)
✅ Medicaid

He thought that meant everything was already set up the best way possible.

But here’s what he didn’t know…

Because he has both Medicare and Medicaid, he qualifies as “dual eligible.” That means there are specific Medicare Advantage plans in Missouri designed just for people like him — and they often include extra benefits beyond Original Medicare.

He was missing out on potential benefits like:
👉 Dental coverage
👉 Vision coverage
👉 Hearing aids
👉 Over-the-counter allowances
👉 Transportation assistance
👉 A care coordinator

All because no one had reviewed his options with him.

He assumed Medicare + Medicaid automatically meant he had the “best” coverage available. In reality, he had never explored the Medicare Advantage plans available in Missouri that are built specifically for dual-eligible individuals.

The good news? After reviewing his situation, we helped him enroll in a plan that better fits his needs — with additional benefits and $0 plan premium cost.

📌 The takeaway:
If you’re on SSDI and have both Medicare and Medicaid, you may qualify for more benefits than you realize — but they don’t automatically enroll you into the plan that maximizes them.

If you live in Missouri and aren’t sure whether you’re taking full advantage of your coverage, let’s talk. A quick review could unlock benefits you didn’t even know were available. 💙
