Today was my first real experience using my own Medicare coverage since becoming Medicare eligible August 1 — and I thought it was worth sharing. 💙
Of course, everyone has an opinion about Medicare Advantage, and we tend to hear plenty about the negatives. So today, I’m sharing a positive.
It’s Sunday, I have a sinus infection, and I really didn’t want to start another workweek feeling miserable. I was able to see a provider today using my UnitedHealthcare Medicare Advantage PPO. My copay for the visit was $0.
Then I went to the pharmacy to pick up three prescriptions. My total copay: $0.
More importantly, I came home feeling relieved. I’ve been seen, I have the medication I need, and I can start the week focused on getting better.
After more than 30 years in health insurance, it’s certainly interesting being on the other side of the Medicare card! 😊
Every Medicare plan is different, and what works for one person may not be right for another. That’s exactly why I’ve always believed Medicare decisions should be based on your doctors, your prescriptions, your needs and your budget — not simply on someone else’s opinion.
